Orthopedic Surgeon

A happy family holding their dogs in a forest during autumn.

Biography

Dr. Ben Snyder, who is originally from Pennsylvania, graduated from Penn State University in 2004 earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Bioengineering, where he focused on biomechanics. He then worked shortly as a biomedical engineer, but desired to use his engineering background to directly impact and improve patients’ lives. This desire drew him into medical school at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where he graduated in 2010 with an MD and MPH focusing on clinical research, quality improvement, and shared decision making.

While in medical school, Dr. Snyder found his calling in Orthopedic Surgery, which perfectly combined his background in biomechanics with restoring patients’ function and quality of life. He completed his Internship and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at UMass Medical School in Worcester, MA between 2010 and 2016. During that time, he pursued a one-year Orthopedic Surgery Research Fellowship which focused on hip and knee replacement surgery. Following Residency, he completed the Joint Replacement/Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Stanford University in CA working as a Clinical Instructor both at the Stanford Hospital and the Palo Alto VA. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Snyder is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Outside of work, Dr. Snyder enjoys spending time with his wife and family, and most outdoor activities including hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, and gardening.
